Inside my head #2:Before American Pie there was BAGETS
I'm not into pinoy movies that much and only a few pinoy movies that i can say passed my taste when it comes to viewing satisfation. because pinoy movie in my opinion is literally crap (not all but most of them) from a repeatative plot, to poor story telling, Same actor in same genre only with different titles and a every next scene seems predictable. All of this attribute contribute to the younger generation of filipino's dislike including myself of our own filipino movie.
One of this few movies i like is the Bagets series produced by Viva films during the 80's. at first glance you will say its just a typical teen oriented movie that featured a young Aga Muhlach, Herbert Bautista, William Martinez, Raymond Lauchengco and JC Bonnin and those thing might turn you off especially guys like me but it turned out to be a great movie. although it has the "cuteytitams factor" it just become a added flavor and barely noticeable to the excellent story telling of a typical teenage high school. I really Liked the way they tackle the story of a real time teenage problem and desire like Love, frustration, Adventurism, sex, relationship and family in a humorous and sometime dramatic way. Its like watching American pie set in the 80's with Filipino cast on it and with dramatic touch to it that make it more realistic. I cant help but notice that maybe American Pie borrowed some concept in this movie or somehow influence by Bagets in some way. Anyway its a feel good movie that i recommend to watch. if your an adult you will have a nostalgic kind of feeling coz you will remember you're teenage escapade and if your a teenager who is looking for a movie that you can relate to this is the movie for you.
